Kimono

Today Evelyn and Dad spent a while palling around.  She sure did look cute in the little kimono top from Sarah D:

Baptism

On Saturday, Evelyn was baptised.  She received a very touching gift in honor of the occasion:  her great-grandmother Evelyn’s confirmation bible.  It was a peaceful, pleasant ceremony, with a nice celebration dinner afterwards.  Everyone felt very much bathed in love.

2 Months Old

IMG_2700
Evelyn turned two months old on Thursday (nine weeks on Saturday). On Friday, she got her first round of vaccinations – three shots and a dropper-full of medicine. She wasn’t exactly pleased about it, but was very brave; her dad had been at pains to explain the importance of herd immunity. By getting vaccinated, Evelyn isn’t just keeping herself healthy – she’s helping lots of other little boys and girls.

There were also the requisite measurements, which were extremely gratifying:

Evelyn is 12.5 pounds (88th percentile) and 24.5 inches (98th percentile), and in clinical terms, cute as a button. Nice growth, kiddo!  Maybe by the next visit we can have you trained to smile for the camera.

Coming into her own…

At eight weeks, Evelyn is starting to develop her own appearance and her very own face..  She doesn’t just look like “a baby” anymore, and is starting to look like Evelyn.

U. S. Open Cup

On Tuesday, Evelyn celebrated attaining one month of post-partum life by attending the Minnesota Thunder’s 3rd round U. S. Open Cup match against the Kansas City Wizards of MLS.  Unfortunately, Evelyn was not able to go the full ninety, succumbing to sleepiness shortly after her half-time supper.  She was required to leave the ground not long after.  Sadly, that meant she missed seeing the Thunder force an overtime, and then penalty kicks, before being defeated and eliminated from the Cup on the fourth PK.  She was as proud as her dad, though, of how the Thunder played – strong possession and a lot of offensive pressure, especially in the second half – and it is to be expected that she’ll be back before long.

Tummy Time

Evelyn is pretty good at tummy time and can raise her head off the floor for several seconds at a stretch.  She doesn’t seem to like the idea much, though – even the beautiful quilt from her great-aunt doesn’t make it better.
